Special Sessions can take the form of
Special attention and consideration will be given to Special Sessions proposals matching the DATE 2018 technical programme, Special Days, and Exhibition Campus focus areas: future and emerging technologies (including new transistors such as GAA, beyond CMOS technologies, new memories and computing architectures, “dim silicon”, new IC integration techniques complementing Moore’s law, and new applications such as AI and machine learning) and designing autonomous systems (including autonomous vehicles and also Industry 4.0, with special attention to availability, reliability, safety, and security requirements and standards).
Special Session proposals must consist of an extended summary of up to 1,500 words in a PDF file, describing the topic, the authors/speakers, and the format, and must be submitted via the DATE website by Sunday, 17 September 2017 23:59:59 CET.
Submissions need to be made on-line via the following URL:
https://www.softconf.com/date18/special/
The submitter of a Special Session proposal will be notified of acceptance or rejection of his/her proposal by Friday, 10 November 2017. In case of acceptance, contributors of accepted Special Sessions will be asked to submit final texts or statements of panelists, as appropriate, for publication in the proceedings as final, camera-ready manuscripts by Thursday, 30 November 2017 23:59:59 CET. Panel sessions are entitled to one (1) page per panelist in the Proceedings; Hot-Topic Sessions are allocated a maximum of six (6) pages paper per speaker, or one single paper for the entire session which should not exceed ten (10) pages; Embedded Tutorials are allocated one single paper for the entire session which should not exceed ten (10) pages. As a rule of thumb, no more than four speakers per session should be planned for Hot-Topic and Embedded Tutorial Sessions.
For these final, camera-ready manuscripts, the only accepted file format is PDF. All papers should be formatted as follows: A4 or letter pages, double column, single spaced, Times or equivalent font of minimum 10 pt. Use of colors may enhance your figures and is encouraged. Detailed instructions for formatting your paper are included in the file (format.pdf). Templates are provided for MS-Word and LaTeX files at https://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates....
For the accepted special sessions, it is the responsibility of the Special Session organizer(s) to ensure that the Thursday, 30 November 2017 23:59:59 CET deadline is met, and all the camera-ready manuscripts from their respective Special Sessions are technically sound, and meet the editorial standards of the DATE Proceedings. The Special Session Co-Chairs may decline the publication of the final manuscripts in the DATE Proceedings if the above responsibility is not fulfilled. For more information, please contact:

The tutorials for DATE 2018 are designed to provide audiences with introductions to important topics in the DATE technical areas. Early career professionals - Ph.D. and M. S. students, early stage professionals - will benefit by rounding out their knowledge of important topics. Mid-career professionals can use the tutorials to extend their horizons. We welcome proposals for tutorial presentations in the DATE technical areas.
On the first day, half-day technical tutorials on selected topics will be given by leading experts in their respective fields. The proposal should motivate the topic and its relevance for both academia and industry, specify whether it covers foundational topics or cutting-edge ones, describe the target audience (expected type of attendees? expected number? match with typical DATE audience?), the reason for a tutorial (why a tutorial, why now). Hands-on tutorials are welcomed. Moreover, the proposal should include a brief abstract with a list of learning objectives, and a clear planning hereto (organization in sessions, possible speakers, what will be done to attract the audience), and the DATE Topic to which it is more closely related. A tutorial proposal example is available on the DATE website.
A tutorial proposal example is available here for download. Proposals should be submitted before Sunday, 10 September 2017 23:59:59 CET via the DATE website.
Submissions of all tutorials need to be made on-line via the following URL:
https://www.softconf.com/date18/tutorials/
The tutorial organizer(s) will be notified of acceptance or rejection of proposals by Friday, 10 November 2017. In case of acceptance, final information about the tutorial structure (confirmed speakers, final abstract, final agenda) must be provided by Thursday, 30 November 2017 23:59:59 CET. Tutorial hand-out material (consisting of all slides and perhaps also background reading material) needs to be uploaded as a single PDF or ZIP file at the DATE website by Wednesday, 28 February 2018 23:59:59 CET. The hand-out material will be available to tutorial attendees only!
Organizers and speakers of accepted half-day tutorials will receive free registration (including afternoon coffee) to the DATE 2018 Monday Tutorials.
